VI. Research and Information Seeking

      This is a computer program that allows users to look up and search different information on the internet. It allows users to view different data that they need.

      The Five Information Sources on the Internet are:


  • Web Search Engines


            This is a software system that is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are generally presented in a line of results often referred to as Search Engine Results Pages (SERP's).

  • Research Indexing Sites
           This collects, parses, and stores data to facilitate fast and accurate information retrieval. It is also known as an online library and it focuses on finding documents related to what the user is looking for like thesis and others.

  • Massive Online Open Course (MOOC's)
        This is also known as an online school. It is a model for delivering learning content online to any person who wants to take a course with no limit on attendance. 

  • Employment Web Sites
        This is also known as websites that deal specifically with career and employments. IOt is used to inform people about job opportunities.

  • Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce)
        This is the buying and selling of goods and services through an electronic network like social media and the Internet. It is the web site wherein you can purchase and sell different products.
