III. ICT Today

       Information and Communications Technology is also known as ICT. This is the fusion of hardware equipments, software applications, GUI, and effective communications network. It is the things that are used by people for them to be able to communicate with other people. The ICT is very important in our lives because it involves the means of communication by humans.

IV. World Wide Web

           The World Wide Web is the central development in the information age and is used by billions of people worldwide. It is a system of internet servers taht support specially formatted document. It was coined by Tim Berners-Lee. There are different versions of the World Wide Web. These are the:

• Web 1.0

         This is the first version of the world wide web. It is also known as the Read-only web because it allows users to only read documents and they cannot ewdit, copy or leave their comment in the document.

• Web 2.0

         This is the present version of the world wide web. This is also known as the Read-and-Write web because users can read documents and at the same time edit, copy and leave their comments behind.

• Web 3.0

        This is the future version of the world wide web. It is also known as semantic executing web because it has the same function as web 2.0 but much faster and more useful than web 2.0.

V. Social Media

           Social media is the collective of online communication channels dedicated to community based input, interaction, content-sharing, and collaboration. Websites and applications dedicated to forums, microblogging, social networking, social bookmarking, social curration and wiki's are among the different types of social media.
          People use social media everyday through the use of their cellphones, laptops, computers, tablets and many more. These are sites that allows us to communicate with other people and share our own thoughts and ideas to them and vice versa. It is very important to us because we use this to communicate with people who are far away from us.

VI. Research and Information Seeking

      This is a computer program that allows users to look up and search different information on the internet. It allows users to view different data that they need.

      The Five Information Sources on the Internet are:

• Web Search Engines

            This is a software system that is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are generally presented in a line of results often referred to as Search Engine Results Pages (SERP's).

• Research Indexing Sites

           This collects, parses, and stores data to facilitate fast and accurate information retrieval. It is also known as an online library and it focuses on finding documents related to what the user is looking for like thesis and others.

• Massive Online Open Course (MOOC's)

        This is also known as an online school. It is a model for delivering learning content online to any person who wants to take a course with no limit on attendance. 

• Employment Web Sites

        This is also known as websites that deal specifically with career and employments. IOt is used to inform people about job opportunities.

• Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce)

        This is the buying and selling of goods and services through an electronic network like social media and the Internet. It is the web site wherein you can purchase and sell different products.
